A little about this book:

Book quote, book quotes
Not a Book Review: The Diary of a Young Girl

I hardly think this classic book needs any description. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a book lover or not, we all know about Anne Frank & her extraordinary diary!

Anne Frank’s extraordinary diary was written in an attic where she and her family hid from the Nazis for two years.

Anne Frank, a teenage girl— honest, vulnerable and in love with life. Although I’d read this book a long time back, Anne Frank; her thoughts; her words & her story has left a deep impression on me. This is a book that will remain ever close to my heart.

My favorite lines from the book:

Book quote, book quotes
Not a Book Review: The Diary of a Young Girl

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.”

~Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

“People can tell you to keep your mouth shut, but that doesn’t stop you from having your own opinion.”

~Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

“Although I’m only fourteen, I know quite well what I want, I know who is right and who is wrong. I have my opinions, my own ideas and principles, and although it may sound pretty mad from an adolescent, I feel more of a person than a child, I feel quite indepedent of anyone.”

~Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

“In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death. I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again.”

~Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

“As long as this exists, this sunshine and this cloudless sky, and as long as I can enjoy it, how can I be sad?”

~Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

“Sympathy, Love, Fortune… We all have these qualities but still tend to not use them!”

~Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

“Riches, prestige, everything can be lost. But the happiness in your heart can only be dimmed; it will always be there as long as you live, to make you happy again.

Whenever you’re feeling lonely or sad, try going to the loft on a beautiful day and looking outside. Not at the houses and the rooftops, but at the sky. As long as you can look fearlessly at the sky, you’ll know that you’re pure within and will find happiness once more.”

~Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

“I don’t believe the war is simply the work of politicians and capitalists. Oh no, the common man is every bit as guilty; otherwise, people and nations would have re- belled long ago! There’s a destructive urge in people, the urge to rage, murder and kill. And until all of humanity, without exception, undergoes a metamorphosis, wars will continue to be waged, and everything that has been carefully built up, cultivated and grown will be cut down and destroyed, only to start all over again!”

~Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

“I can shake off everything if I write; my sorrows disappear, my courage is reborn. But, and that is the greatest question, will I ever be able to write anything great, will I ever become a journalist or a writer? I hope so, oh, I hope so very much, for I can recapture everything when I write, my thoughts, my ideas and my fantasies.”

~Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl

  1. Great idea for a post and great choices. From the wise young Miss Frank, and something I’d share with my children about self-responsibility:
“Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.”
Given her fate, it’s so poignant, too.

  2. One thing about this book is that it is full of personal opinions of a girl. who had just come In the age of adolescence.
According to biology, when kids reach this age , they feel that they are always right, neglecting others.
In this book , Anne was frequent in saying that she is not understand by anyone and she is also the best.
I would prefer the autobiography of Helen Keller

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your thought. I think Helen Keller & the diary of a young girl are both great books. You may like one better than the other, that’s your personal preference, & I respect that.

But, I don’t don’t think there’s anything wrong with in being the way Anne is. The main object of keeping a journal is to write the truth. Anne writes with complete honesty & describes what we have all felt as adolescents.

She is like any one of us & that’s what makes her so special. And, what makes her diary extraordinary is her extraordinary story not described in this book.

We all know that story, of a girl with regular dreams & desires like any other girl.

But who couldn’t live those dreams & desires because of a cruelty most cruel to be found in the history of cruelty!

      1. I’m sorry but I do not agree with you.

We are all allowed to have our own opinions & we are all allowed to agree or disagree with each other’s opinions.

I respect your’s, whether you choose to respect mine or not, is completely your choice.

        Best wishes
