Are you a book lover?

The ultimate book lover is someone who don’t just love reading books but loves the whole experience around them. Like the smell of a new book or the sound of flipping pages or transporting to a world of imagination at the sight of few written words.

I’m one of those and if you are too, you’ll agree with me that there’s no such thing as ‘too many books.’

I’m regularly on the lookout for new books to add to my reading list. Another reason (or excuse) for searching out new book titles is for gifting them and what else would make a better gift anyway!

In my last search I came across a few interesting books and wanted to share them with you. So, I thought about doing this list which I call the ultimate list (that’s no exaggeration) of Top Ten Best Selling Books in Fiction. The ranking of the books is based on Amazon’s listings.

“Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry’s eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!”

“Obviously, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone should make any modern 11-year-old a very happy reader. The novel moves quickly, packs in everything from a boa constrictor that winks to a melancholy Zen-spouting centaur to an owl postal system, and ends with a scary surprise.”

6. The Handmaid’s Tale

The handmaids tale, bestselling fiction book

The Handmaid’s Tale

Author: Margaret Atwood
Amazon charts #5 most read

About this book aka Book Description –

“The Handmaid’s Tale is a novel of such power that the reader will be unable to forget its images and its forecast. Set in the near future, it describes life in what was once the United States and is now called the Republic of Gilead, a monotheocracy that has reacted to social unrest and a sharply declining birth rate by reverting to, and going beyond, the repressive intolerance of the original Puritans. The regime takes the Book of Genesis absolutely at its word, with bizarre consequences for the women and men in its population.

The story is told through the eyes of Offred, one of the unfortunate Handmaids under the new social order. In condensed but eloquent prose, by turns cool-eyed, tender, despairing, passionate, and wry, she reveals to us the dark corners behind the establishment’s calm facade, as certain tendencies now in existence are carried to their logical conclusions. The Handmaid’s Tale is funny, unexpected, horrifying, and altogether convincing. It is at once scathing satire, dire warning, and a tour de force. It is Margaret Atwood at her best.”

  1. Unfortunately none of these books seem to wake my interest, even Harry Potter (I’m not a big fan). But if you are into fantasy fiction and romance, then I could recommend a few books. :3

    1. Thank you for sharing the thought. It’s indeed unfortunate that you didn’t like any of the ten currently bestselling books, but that’s quite alright. Everyone has their personal preferences with book genres, I respect your’s.
Please do recommend one or two fantasy fiction novels, I’d love to check them out.

      1. My absolute favorite books series are by Sarah J. Maas “The Court of Thorns and Roses” and Amy A. Bartol “The Premonition”. Now, many may say that these are stories for high school girls, but I find them to be much more than that. I fell in love with the world and characters and dreamed to one day wake up and be a part of these stories. If you’d like to read a little older book, then you should give a try to Stephenie Meyer “The Host”. You may have heard, or even seen the movie which is an adaptation of this book, but I assure you, that the movie was a big disappointment compared to the original. 🙂
